PHALGA Assembly Screens Supervisors
The Port Harcourt City Local Government Legislative Assembly of Rivers State, has concluded the screening of 10 supervisors.
The nominees most of whom, were former supervisors and councillors in the council were however, asked to take a bow and leave.
Meanwhile, the Port Harcourt City Local Government Legislative Assembly has committed the 2013 budget of the council to the Finance and Appropriation committee of the House.
The Assembly Chief Whip, Mr Worlu Wonderful said that the budget of N5,822,538,697,33 would help to improve the economy of the city.
He urged the speedy passage of the budget to enable the council implement its programme for the people.
However, the councillor for Ward Nine, Hon. Chike Wami, has urged the Assembly to keep the budget till the next sitting.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Ikechukwu Amadi described the nominees as men and women of integrity who would surely bring their wealth of experience to bear in the administration of the council.
Hon. Amadi who represents PHALGA Ward Three in the council, also commended the nominees for their mature behaviour during the screening exercise and advised both the new and old members to learn from the experiences of each other in the new assignments.
Also speaking, a former supervisor, Hon. Richmond Nwangwe commended the Legislative Assembly for its high-level of transparency during the exercise.
Hon. Nwangwe who was former Supervisor for Health and also chairman of the Revenue Committee in the council promised to bring his wealth of experience in to bear the performance of his new assignment.
