The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Rivers State has described as “timely” and “most appropriate” the vote of confidence recently passed on Governor Chibuike Amaechi by the state’s legislature. Noting that it came at no better time, the party said Governor Amaechi deserves more than a vote of confidence as had worked tirelessly to give Rivers State an enviable facelift.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Publicity Secretary, George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, the PDP praised the bold stand taken by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, saying that the singular act had endeared them to the hearts of Rivers people.

“The vote of confidence in Governor Chibuike Amaechi shows that the state legislature does not play to the gallery in the discharge of its legislative functions. That singular act of those lawmakers who stood for truth and development, together with Rivers people at a time enemies of the state are pursuing shadows, has no doubt endeared them as defenders of our values,” Ukwuoma-Nwogba had added.

The PDP frowned at the display of disloyalty exhibited by four lawmakers, describing them as “ungrateful and greedy” while demanding total loyalty from members and those elected on the platform of the ruling party.

“Those elected into public offices on the platform of the PDP ought not to bite the fingers that fed them. The PDP respects individual rights to free speech and expression but would not tolerate presumptuous disloyalty premised on pecuniary gains.”

The PDP also praised the Rivers State National Assembly Caucus led by Honourable Asita .O. Asita for its display of solidarity with the government and people of Rivers State.

While assuring of the party’s unshaken support for Governor Amaechi, Ukwuoma-Nwogba said that PDP’s aspiration was greater than any individual ambition and as such should count first.

“The PDP is greater than any individual member and as such, party supremacy should prevail,” the PDP spokesman added.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Rivers State has congratulated Governor Chibuike Amaechi on the recent upgrade in the state’s credit rating by Fitch.

“This rating is an indication of the confidence that the Amaechi led government has engendered locally and globally,” says PDP Rivers State Publicity Secretary Mr. George Ukwuoma-Nwogba.

Quoting the draft report, Mr. Ukwuoma-Nwogba noted the fact that “Fitch considers the inclusion of financial debt in the assets and liabilities statement, as seen in the 2012 draft accounts, as a rating positive.”

According to him, “ this glaring commendation only goes on to buttress the fact that the Amaechi administration is committed to transparency, accountability and total disclosure, all of which are critical elements in a democracy.”

While cautioning self serving charlatans who are on a mission of self-aggrandizement, and whose “god is their belly,” the PDP said,  “Unfortunately many of these self serving and professional nay sayers, neither love Rivers State nor her people but love only the wads of Naira notes in their sponsors’ wallet. They care less how rotten those filthy rewards are and even less what becomes our common patrimony.”

In a statement in Port Harcourt, Ukwuoma-Nwogba, described recent reports ascribed to Mr. Jerry Needam, spokesperson of the Abiye Sekibo campaign organization alleging that the state was owing external debts as laughable.
