NUJ Seeks Enthronement Of True Democracy

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abuja council, has sought the enthronement of genuine democracy in the country.

The NUJ, Abuja Council, Chuks Ehirim stated this while speaking to journalists in Abuja, recently.

He said NUJ supports the struggle to enthrone genuine democracy in the country.

He said the recent election of Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) was worthy of commendation especially with the calibre of persons elected to lead the group in the next two years.

The union chairman said journalists in Nigeria had been at the forefront of the crusade for a credible, free and fair electoral system in the country.

He urged journalists to redouble their efforts in the fight to enthrone true democracy and ensure that the country got an electoral system where the votes of the people would count.

He commended journalists for always conducting elections devoid of rancor.
