Ministry Seeks Stakeholders’ Collaboration On Education
The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education has called for collaboration among stakeholders in the education industry to improve the sector.
The is contained in a statement signed by the Ebonyi Commissioner for Education, Mr Ndubuisi Agbo, at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki.
Agbo said that increased collaboration among various critical stakeholders in the education sector was necessary to fast-track progress and actualise the gains of the transformation programme.
The commissioner said that stakeholders in the industry must constantly come together to fashion out ways that would make the industry to thrive.
He said that sound education was needed to breed sound citizenry, noting that constant review of decisions and policies on education would make the sector to be attuned to changes.
“Constant review of policies and decisions we make in the industry is needed to keep us abreast with changes taking place in the sector.
“For us to achieve this, there is need for us to work as a team in order to improve the sector and consolidate the gains already made,’’ he said.
Agbo warned that government would not hesitate to sanction school principals and vice-principals who engaged in acts of insubordination, capable of running down the system.
The commissioner also re-stated the ban on the sale of unapproved textbooks and workbooks at public and private schools in the state, warning of dire consequences for offenders.
“We have lists of recommended textbooks and workbooks that are allowed for use in our secondary schools.
“Nobody is allowed to introduce unapproved textbooks or work books; the system is streamlined to achieve success and cannot be derailed,’’ he said.
The meeting was attended by ministry mfficials, executive chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, the Secondary Education Board as well as permanent secretaries in the two boards.
Also in attendance were officials of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Schools and the Chief Supervisory Principals of Schools.
