Ikwerre Road: RSG To Repair Damaged Spot

The difficulties encountered by motorists and other road users at the floyover  axis of Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt following  a deep pothole on the road will soon be a thing of the past, as the Rivers State Ministry of Works has awarded contract for the repair of the damaged spot.

Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Hon Victor Giadom disclosed this  recently  in an exclusive interview with The Tide in his office.

The commissioner said work would soon commence on the rehabilitation of the bad spot to alleviate the plight of road users .

He called on road users to exercise  patience as the affected portion of the road would soon be put in proper shape for use.

The commissioner also assured that the government would  complete all road projects under construction  according to specifications.

It would be recalled that the affected portion of the road had posed serious threat to motorists and other road users.

Commercial and private vehicles drivers in a bid to  avoid the damaged spot, divert  to  alternate routes, resulting in serious traffic challenge around  the  area just opposite The Tide newspaper corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Some motorists, who spoke with The Tide correspondent, said , the bad spot had caused damages to their cars, adding that they had no alternative than to divert to other routes to get to their destinations.

A bus driver, Mr Akanimo Udosen, appealed to the Rivers State Government to fast track the repair of the damaged  spot, to save  motorists from difficulties.

Another motorist, Chief Clarice Umenta called on the government to come to the aid of the motorists by fixing the damaged portion of the road.
