Degema: Pokima Signs 2013 Budget Into Law

The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Ibigoni Daddy Pokima, has signed the 2013 appropriation bill of N4,808,483.64 into law after approval by the Degema Legislative Assembly.

Hon. Pokima, signed the bill in his office at Degema last Monday in the presence of the Leader of the Legislative Assembly, Hon. Abiotoa-a Iboroma.

It would be recalled that Hon. Pokima, had presented a budget estimate of N4,951,778,999.00 to the House for approval about three weeks ago.

Out of the approved amount, which is short of the N57,678,000.00 originally submitted, N2,894,100,000.00 will be spent on recurrent expenditure  while N1,914,383,696.64 will be spent on capital expenditure.

A press statement later released by the chief press secretary confirming the signing of the 2013 appropriation bill reads: “following approval by the DELGA Legislative Assembly on the 2013 Appropriation Bill,  Hon. Ibigoni Daddy Pokima, Executive Chairman of the Degema Local Government Area, today signed the bill into law.

“Hon Pokima, wishes to reassure the good people of Degema of the commitment of his administration to speed up development to compete favourably with other local government areas in the country while calling for the cooperation of the citizenry”, the statement added.
