Coaches, Athletes Recount Experiences At Police Games

Some athletes and coaches have continued to recount their experiences after hauling medals at the just-concluded 10th Biennial Police Games in Port Harcourt.

Zone two of Nigeria Police, with 220 medals, won the games.

One of the zone two athletes, Mr Malu Williams, said their victory was due to hard work by athletes and their coaches.

Williams told Tidesports that the games had created grounds for grooming future stars who could win honour for the country in international meets.

He described the performance of the zone as a welcomed development.

Force Headquarters Volleyball Coach, Mr  Oladipupo Taiwo said the zone did well in the games, in spite of winning the second place.

Taiwo urged the athletes not to relent in their efforts to promote police games.

He urged the authorities to create sufficient time for training for the athletes to enable them to perform excellently in future games.

Taiwo said that athletes could perform better if adequate training was given to them before the beginning of the events.

‘’The force headquarters has been a defending champion in the history of Nigeria Police game; I believe we are still the best.

‘’Though we are second in the 2013 games, God will continue to be our strength,’’ the coach said.

The headquarters won the trophy nine times since the existence of the games.
