Borno To Train 50 Agric Graduates In India

The Borno State Government it would send 50 graduate trainees in agriculture to India to further sharpen their skills in agricultural mechanisation.

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State stated this in Maiduguri recently at a reception organised for trainees who successfully completed a three-month course in Thailand.

Shettima explained that the objective was to prepare the ground for agricultural revolution in the state.

He expressed satisfaction on the skills exhibited by the trainees on various agricultural fields.

“I am highly impressed by the presentation made by the trainees, it is an indication that they have learnt what we sent them to learn in Thailand.

“But I believe we should further sharpen their skills by sending them to India to learn about the Green House and other modern technology,” Shettima said.

The governor said that the state government had already ordered 500 rice milling machines from Thailand to utilise the skills of the trainees in rice production.

Shettima explained that government would also acquire more implements from Thailand to further ensure full utilisation of the skills acquired by the trainees. In addition to providing the trainees with necessary tools and farmlands to establish farms for production and processing of produce.

“Some of them are expected to be drafted to train large chunk of our local farmers on the new farming techniques,” the governor said.
