AYC: Ghana, Egypt Battle For African Title ’Morrow
Ghana’s Satellites and the Young Pharoahs of Egypt will tomorrow battle to succeed the flying Eagles of Nigeria at the 2013 African Youth Championships due to be concluded in Algeria.
Both countries made it to the final of the competition by eliminating Mali and Nigeria, respectively in the semi final stage.
While Egypt proved too strong for the flying Eagles overcoming them 2-0, Ghana edged Mali 4-2 on penalties after regulation and extra time ended goalless.
Meanwhile, Nigeria and Mali will engage themselves to determine third and fourth place finishers.
Egypt, with a 100% record in the finals, were too strong for Nigeria.
The winners of the final will go to the 2013 Under-20 World Cup knowing they will be in a group with England, Chile and Iraq.
There will be a draw for the runners up and two losing semi-finalists – Mali and Nigeria – to determine who each will face at the tournament in Turkey from 21 June to 13 July.
