Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has appealed to the people of the state to be patient as his administration pushes on to complete the construction work on Ogbogoro and Eliparanwo roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Amaechi made the appeal yesterday during an inspection tour of the road projects.

He said his administration would not only build the roads but would also provide good drainages.

In Eliparanwo, he said “everybody must be patient. Now we are taking our time to build water drainage on the left side of the road which is sub-surface and on the right you have covered drains. You must allow us take our time to get to the end so that we will be able to do a proper job.

“The Ogbogoro road is ongoing, again they are facing drainage. The road gets you through to Egbelu and connects you to Rumuepirikom.”

“We are rebuilding completely. We see these roads as new roads because there were no drainages. You can see the drainage, they are sub-surface drains, you see how deep the drainage is and the expanse; the cost of the road is greatly determined by the quantity of the concrete. You can see the quality of concrete and the type that they are using,” Amaechi added.

He expressed concern over the welfare of all Rivers people, sayinf he would not implement any policy that would show that he differentiates among the people in any part of the state.

“The responsibility of a governor is to provide these services. Of course, you are paid to provide them actually. You are not doing the people a favour. You are supposed to serve them,” Amaechi said.

He said his administration was working on improving power supply in the state and also making steady progress in the education and health sectors.

In the agricultural sector, the governor said the state government had started a fish farm in Buguma with three other fish farms being built in Andoni, Opobo and Ubima with another one to be sited in Okrika.
