TUC Elects New Officers

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State chapter, has successfully completed its 4th triennial delegates conference with the re-election of Comrade Chika Onuegbu as the state Chairman for a second term of three years.

The 4th triennial delegates conference took place recently at Hotel Presidential Port Harcourt which was well attended by important dignitaries across the country.

Speaking to The Tide, after the election, Comrade Onuegbu said he is ready to ensure an improveD visibility of TUC in the State, adding  that the relationship between the TUC, the government and people of the State would be taken to a new level of cooperation and partnership.

He promised an improved transparency, communication and administration of TUC in the state by developing and maintaining effective and efficient procedures which (are) line with the Union constitution and best practice in trade union administration.

Comrade Onuegbu further promised to improve relationship and solidarity between the Union and all its affiliates in the state through raising the capacity, strength and moral of the Union members for their progress and well being.

The Union boss assured all Nigerians and the workers that the Union will continue to stand for their common good stressing that the Union is genuinely committed to building the Nigeria of our dream.

However, the newly TUC elected executives were,  Clement Onyesom, vice chairman, Jonas Ogundu Okere Secretary, Raymond Chibuike Benson, Assistant Secretary 1, Dr Chris Mbata Treasurer; Others are Comrades Onuoha Gabriel, Financial Secretary, Abadi Kingdom Auditor, Prezi Ayaoge Diffa – Publicity Secretary, Mrs Adeku Abagail Women Leader and Edward Orupabo Ex officio.

Meanwhile, Comrade Onuegbu has been appointed by the TUC President General, Comrade Peter Esele as a member of the Union, National Organizing Committee for the Union National Delegates Conference scheduled for June 27, 2013 at FCT Abuja.

Also, the TUC Rivers State Council has appointed four principals special assistants for the State Chairman.

In a release titled “appointment into the office of the TUC State Chairman” signed by Comrade Clem Onyesom, Vice Chairman stated that Comrade Charles Chima Igwe JP, Special Assistant  to TUC State Chairman on Industrial Relations Advocacy, Comrade Princewill Akamo Special Assistant on Inter-Affiliate Matters.

Others are Comrade Telema D. S. Smart Jack, Special Assistant, Civil Society Relations and Comrade Chikadibia George Special Assistant Health and Safety.
