Stadium Manager Tasks Users On Healthy Environment

The management of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos has advised users of toilet facilities in the arena to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, to avoid the spread of diseases.

The Stadium Manager, Mr Abolore Alanamu, gave the advice during an interview with Tidesports in Lagos.

He said that anybody caught messing up the facilities would be handed over to the police for disciplinary action.

“An untidy toilet will definitely constitute a health hazard and we don’t want to be identified with such an unlawful act at the National Stadium, Lagos.

“All the toilet facilities in the stadium were renovated prior to EKO 2012, and we are committed to ensure its maintenance.

“We will not forgive anybody who wants to frustrate our efforts.

“The taps are functioning for the people to flush the toilets after use. Our men are on ground for defaulters, because they will be made to face the consequences,’’ he said.

Alanamu said the toilets were made accessible for the comfort of athletes who come for training programmes, and other users of the arena.

According to him, “we cannot keep the toilets under lock because the facilities will decay if completely kept out of use for a period’’.

The stadium official urged sports people and other visitors, to maintain a high level of hygiene at the toilets, to unsure their durability.

Alanamu said that the stadium management had made it mandatory for shop owners at the sporting arena to observe a thorough cleanliness every Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

He said that any shop owner who failed to observe the Thursday sanitation would have their shops locked for the day, to serve as a deterrent to others.

Meanwhile, waste bins have been provided at strategic places in the stadium, to enable people dispose their waste papers, empty cans and pure water sachets appropriately.
