Scrabble Players Seek Assistance From RSG

A top scrabble player in Rivers State, Sunday Oshodi, has appealed to the state government to assist the sport to grow in the state.

Oshodi who made the appeal in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, said that the body needs scrabble equipment and financial support to enhance the development of sport in the state.

He also told Tidesports that he produced the children that represented Rivers State at the just-concluded 5th National School Sports Festival (NSSF) adding that the young talents need encouragement and motivation to perform better in the future.

The children are really great but, they need all the support and motivation they can get in order to stay focused and mentally fit in the game, he said.

He however, appealed to called on multi-national companies and sports loving individuals as well as the state government to support the development of the sport.

Oshodi, disclosed that there are three categories in the sport adding that, as one grows in the game he finally becomes a master in the sport.

He further said that adults win prize money while children win medals saying that there are a lot of scrabble tournament which holds annually in the country for the adult category.

He said that the state is preparing for the championship expected to take place in Akwa Ibom, Delta State, Ibadan and Abuja this year.
