RSG Backs Teens Beauty Pageant …As Rollins Club Promises N1 million To Winner

The Rivers State Government has pledged its partnership with Rollins Recreation and Resource Club to ensure the success of the forth-coming Miss Royalty Teens Beauty pageant which comes up in April this year.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West who said this during the unveiling of the Miss Royalty Teens Beauty Pageant in Port Harcourt, organsied by Rollins Recreation and Resource Club said the government will always work with organisations whose objectives is to create opportunities for youths in the state.

She said that the forth-coming pageant will create opportunity for teenage girls to discover their inate potentials that will be useful for them and the society in future.

The Commissioner urged the Foundation not to relent, but to strive to fish them out as the future would be better for it.

President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industries Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Engr. Emeka Unachukwu said that the event is another mile stone in the effort to discover talents in the state.

Engr. Unachukwu said that the Chamber is happy to be associated with the programme as so many young artistes have been produced.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rollins Recreation and Resource Club Mrs RoI. Emiko Akaruese said that the pageant which holds April 20, will feature teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 17 years from different parts of the country.

Mrs Akaruese said that, the event aims at empowering young teenagers through the one-off scholarship scheme, while giving them opportunity to grow and develop positive self image, cultivate their talents and public speaking abilities.

“The programme will help facilitate self-confidence, provide a platform  and gather experience. Life-long memories and building life long friendship, while promoting the spirit of good sports woman/sportsmanship”, she said.

According to her, winner of the pageant will go home with one-off scholarship award of one million naira first runners-up five hundred thousand, while the third place winner will get three hundred thousand.

She said that, the contestants will be scored on personal interviews speech, poise, talent evening gown and stage questions.

“The girls will go through pageantry/educational seminars stage deportment training, question and answer technique, personal grooming, etiquette, speech seminar, total image management etc., she said.
