The first Vice Chairman of Rivers State Cycling Association, Giadomenico Mssari, has said that there is bright future for the game of cycling in Nigeria if given adequate support is given to the game at all levels.
Massari, who stated this while speaking with Sports Journalists in Port Harcourt recently remarked that Nigeria has talented cyclists, saying that what is needed is a little encouragement for them to excel.
“I can assure you that I like the game of cycling so much, myself, Alex Enebeli and Iboroma Akpan, are doing the very best we can in sponsoring some cycling competition in the state where by talented youths and some veterans participated fully.
There is no successful hosting of a cycling championship in the state that will attract investors to put in their money for the development of the game in the state and also create job opportunities for the youths”, he noted.
He further said that restiveness among the youths in this country, today, are traceable to lack of job opportunities adding that if youths are meaningfully engaged there will be peace and the economy of the country will also improve tremendously.
Massari, therefore called on corporate bodies, state government and other spirited individuals in the state to assist in the promotion of the game.
