The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Josephine Washima, has promised to organise entertainment programmes to boost entrepreneurial skills among Nigerians.

Wikipedia, the online dictionary, describes education as an entertainment programme designed to educate people and promote ethical values.

Washima announced the plan in Abuja during the launching of the forthcoming job creation concert with the theme, “Inspire Nigeria”.

According to her, the first phase of the concert is scheduled to hold on March 30th at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

She also said that the second phase would take place in July in Lagos and Calabar.

She observed that President Goodluck Jonathan had identified job creation as a priority in the transformation agenda and that more needed to be done to achieve results.

She said: “Inability of young people to discover their potential contributes to increasing incidence of unemployment in the country,’’ she said.

She promised to organise the educative concert, using music, art and fashion to promote skills and encourage young people to be self-employed stressing that “We will organise an edutainment concert to boost the entrepreneurial skills of the youth.

“It is a combination of music, art and fashion; it is always good to use what would attract the attention of the youth to teach them, stressing that “Youths are talented; most of them possess the quality of doing things that are capable of generating job opportunities.

“It is because we don’t know what we have, that we lack the know-how to turn our skills into lucrative venture,” she said.

She, however, promised to work closely with the organised private sector to promote entrepreneurial skills in young people in Nigeria.

She said that attendance at the concert would be free for young people that wished to attend.

She said that the concert would provide opportunity for youths to meet people who had proven track records in various fields of endeavour.
