NWL Disqualifies Five, Promotes Two
The Board of the Nigeria Women League last Friday disqualified five teams and promoted two others that participated in the play off of the 2012/2013 Women Amateur League.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Secretary of the Board, Mr Isaac Ajisafe.
The statement said the teams were disqualified for not obeying the rules and regulations of the game.
“The teams were disqualified for going contrary to certain sections of the rules and regulations governing the Nigeria Women League.
“The Board of the Nigeria Women League at its meeting held on Wednesday January 16, 2013, has reviewed the decisions of the Organising Committee of the 2012 Women Amateur League play-off held late last year,” it said.
The statement said that based on Article 2.2(4) and (9) of the rules and regulations governing the Nigeria Women League, it disqualified State House FC of Abuja and Laraba Shoda FC of Shagamu.
Also disqualified are Martins White FC of Benin, VGN Queens FC of Akure and Beautiful Tour Angels FC of Abuja.
The statement said that Shettima Babes FC of Abuja and C. I. Angels of Asaba, which emerged winners of the Amateur League play-off, were qualified to play in the Women Professional League 2013.
