NPL Draw Holds Today
The draw for the new Nigeria Premier League season will be held today as the League gets a new kick-off date, which is expected to be March 9.
The earlier kick-off date of February 16 never looked realistic as both Rangers Int’l and Kano Pillars are supposed to play the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying games around that time.
Also, recent setbacks surrounding the title sponsorship rights of the League, as well as the reluctance by the NPL’s Interim Management Committee to conduct draws for the new season amidst several unresolved issues, have further stalled the progress.
With this new date, the Nigeria National League (NNL), which is the second-tier league in Nigeria, will be about a month away from its mid-season break before the NPL will resume action.
