NAHCO Upgrades Kano Warehouse
The Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has commenced work on the expansion and moderanisation of its Kano warehouse to enhance service delivery.
The Head of Corporate Communications of NAKKO aviance, Mr Sanya Onayoada who disclosed this to newsmen said that when completed the warehouse would look like the one at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos which has the capacity for 230,000 tonnes of cargo import and 60,000 tonnes cargo export per annum.
According to him, the Kano warehouse project is in line with the on-going federal government’s airport modernization and expansion programme.
“In the light of the currealities, the Kano warehouse which was commissioned in the 80’s and occupies about 4,000 square metres requires an upliftment to meet the expected challenge. Therefore, the current programme will contribute significantly to a better and efficient cargo business in the northern part of the country.
He explained that on completion the warehouse would create a great increase in the cargo capacity as well as boost the transaction of both local and international trade at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano as a possible cargo hub in Northern Nigeria.
“The resultant effect will be an increase in cargo capacity and a boost in trade, especially considering the geographical location of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport as a possible hub in Northern Nigeria,” he said.
