LG Begins Construction Of Primary Healthcare Centres
The Igbo Etiti Local Government Council has begun the construction of five primary health centers in five communities in the area.
In an interview in Enugu, recently, the Chairman of the council, Mr Festus Ozoemena, said the five communities were selected as a pilot scheme.
Ozoemena said the construction had gone beyond 70 per cent completion and that more would be constructed in due course.
He said that the idea was to expand and take heathcare facilities to the doorsteps of the people of Igbo-Etiti.
Describing health as life, the chairman said: “My administration thought it wise to embark on the construction of this project to save lives and uplift the health condition of our people.
“This administration under my leadership has also found it necessary to rehabilitate some dilapidated primary schools in the council area.
“That is why we did not hesitate to commence the renovation of primary schools within our council area and construction of new ones where the need arises.”
Ozoemena said the council would continue to provide quality education at the primary level.
He said the council was currently renovating 40 primary schools with some of them nearing completion.
