Khana Re-Run Polls: Abe Urges Support For PDP
Ahead of tomorrow’s councillorship re-run election in Ward 17 (Kaani-Babbe/Sii/Betem) in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe has canvassed support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Digbo Sam Barineka, insisting that it is only the PDP-led government that can provide amenities that would impact positively on the lives of the people as evidenced in the achievements of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Abe, chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), spoke last Sunday at the flag-off of the ward’s councillorship campaign in Sii during which the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Mr. Barigbor Nwitoh Kenneth and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Mr. Pius decamped to the PDP and hailed its leadersip in the state.
He advised the community to jettison “mushroom political parties and join hands with the PDP to move the area forward.”
Speaking earlier, the chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Sir Greg Nwidam commended the Sii community and the decampees for their decision to work with the PDP.
Receiving the decampees, the PDP chairman in Khana Local Government Area, Chief Eric Nwibani remarked that the party’s umbrella was wide enough to accommodate all well-meaning persons, adding that the party was in Sii Ward 17 not to campaign but to thank the Sii Chief’s Council, elders, women and youths for their resolve to vote enmasse for the PDP.
The Special Adviser to Rivers State Governor on Special Projects, Elder Austine Nwakoh, the PDP Senatorial Vice-Chairman, Chief Bodo Adoo, the PDP former chairman in the area, Hon. K. P. Luke and other dignitaries also spoke at the event which was attended by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Mr. George Feyii.
