Foundation Earmarks N18m For Drugs Quarterly
Igo Aguma Foundation (IAF) says it will spend N18 million on drugs quarterly in equipping 15 primary health centres across the State.
The founder of the Foundation and former member of the federal House of Representatives,Hon Igo Aguma said his foundation will partner with 15 health centres by donating drugs for the treatment and prevention of four common ailments.
Aguma,a former Commissioner for Sports Rivers State said the foundation would focus and provide drugs for the treatment and prevention of Diabetes, Malaria, Hypertension, explaing that his foundation would help the state government and the Rivers state Primary Healthcare Management Board to maintain and sustain the facilities built by the present administration in the state.
According to him,the foundation would work with various communities within the catchment area of the Primary Health Centres, to sensitise the people on the right attitude and lifestyle, symptoms,in the case of Diabetes and hypertension.
He explained that the foundation is also ready to work with the media to create awareness of the availability of these health centres in the various communities where they are situated.
The former law maker said the foundation would ensure and work to stimulate societal ownership of the health centres built by Governor Chibuike Amaechi as he commended the Governor for embarking on health project in the state.
The foundation also has plans to partner and assist in sustaining the government programmes in primary schools.
