Fire Razes Property At Abuja Varsity
Properties worth millions of naira were last Saturday destroyed at the University of Abuja, following an outbreak of fire in its Chemistry Laboratory.
It was gathered that the laboratory was completely razed down by the inferno which began in the early hours of Saturday.
An eye witness told The Tide that the fire started at about 1:30 am on the fateful day, and that the cause of the fire was probably due to electrical spark.
The eye witness said “immediately we noticed the fire outbreak and discovered that it had gone beyond what we could control, we called the attention of fire service men.”
Furthermore, the eye witness who spoke anonymously said , “but before they got here, the fire had caused serious damage to the Chemistry Laboratory and the only thing they could do was to stop it from crossing to other laboratories within the complex.”
In another development, traders in Mararaba Orange Market in Nasarawa State have lamented over the demolition of stalls by a taskforce.
Some of the traders told journalists that the orange market served as both their home and place of business.
Mr. Paul Caltus said that he only acquired his shop three months ago for N25,000 and that he has now lost every thing, lamenting that he has lost his shop and phones given to him for repairs by customers.
It was also gathered that the Mararaba-Guruku area close to the Orange Market is to be demolished to create access to a Medical Centre.
