The former national chairman of Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Chief Jimmy Cooker, has attributed the victory of the Super Eagle of Nigeria in the Africa cup of Nations in South Africa to determination and confidence exhibited by the coaches and players.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt last Saturday Cooker said that determination was a major factor that led to the Eagles victory after poor performance their at the group stages.

He said that the team suddenly improved and become focused and purposeful in the senior and final stages of contingent tournament.

Cooker lauded the Super Eagles Chief Coach Stephen Keshi, for introducing a game plan which helped the players to improve tremendously during the final match against Burkina-Faso.

Again I appreciated the courage of Keshi forwards the inclusion of some home based players who are now being exposed. I think it is a welcome development.

He therefore advocated for the establishment of outstanding home based Super Eagles team that will be kept for internationally friendliness that such measure would expose the players.

On the issue of hiring a foreign technical adviser for Super Eagles team, Cooker, described the idea as wasteful .

He however, said that the issue of engaging a foreign coach for new should be dropped adding that Keshi has done well at the Nationals Cup in South Africa while urging Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to allow him to continue to tinker the Eagles ahead of the FIFA confederation cup.
