Ex-Minister Tasks Security Operatives On Mystery Bodies
Former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has called on security operatives to unravel the mystery behind the discovery of corpses at Ezu River in Amansea community of Anambra.
The corpses were discovered floating on the river on January 19.
Akunyili made the call on Saturday at Amansea when she paid the community a solidarity visit.
“It is shameful that up till now, our security agencies have not been able to tell us where the corpses came from. All we hear about the identity of the bodies are rumour which shouldn’t be so. If security operatives can’t tell us their true identities, then it means that we are not all safe,” she said.
The former minister said that the effort would ascertain the identities of the bodies and the cause of their death.
She described the incident as a disaster that needed the assistance of the Federal Government.
She thanked the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo, for displaying quality leadership, especially during the trying moments of his people.
Responding, Okonkwo also commended Akunnyili for her gesture and promised to support her in her future political endeavours.
