Delta Tasks Guinness On Job Creation
Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof. Amos Utuama, has urged the management of Guinness Nigeria to open more business channels in the state to create employment for youths.
He said that opening of more outlets for commerce would help to increase the volume of entrepreneurship among the teeming youths and attract development to the state.
Utuama stated this in Asaba, when Managing Director of Guinness, Mr Seni Adetu, paid him a courtesy visit.
He commended the company for the construction and inauguration of new mini-water works at Ozanogo in Ika South Local Government Area and the introduction of Guinness Distribution Centre (GDC) at Ekuku-Agbor in Ika North East.
“As a corporate citizen, you have done well in your social responsibility to communities in areas you operate,’’ he told the company’s management
He noted that Guinness had presence in all parts of the country.
The deputy governor called on other corporate organisations operating in the state to emulate Guinness in its good citizen disposition.
“The organisations need the people as the people need them.’’
Adetu said that the management of the company was in the state to inaugurate the mini water works it constructed at Ozanogo and also to introduce a distribution centre at Ekuku-Agbor.
He said that apart from profit making “Guinness Nigeria Ltd., is geared toward being an employer of choice in the country,’’ adding that the introduction of the distribution concept was to empower women in small scale business.
Adetu said that Delta and Guinness had lots of things in common as both were number one supporters of the Super Eagles and reiterated that the company was delighted in investing in communities in the State.
