CPC Chieftain Lists Gains Of Merger
National Publicity Secretary, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Mr Rotimi Fashakin, has said that the recent merger by four opposition parties will strengthen democracy and ensure better governance in Nigeria.
Fashakin told newsmen in Abuja that one of the primary aims of the merger was to restore the lost glory of Nigeria via good governance.
He said that CPC strongly believed that the success of the merger would make a great difference, soonest, in the history of Nigerian politics.
“As a party, we have endorsed the entry of the All Progressive Congress (APC) into Nigeria’s politics as an ideologically based political association,’’ he said.
APC, he said, was essentially structured to provide alternative platform for the Nigerian people and gave the assurance that “it shall be open to all patriots that are ready to join’’.
‘APC‘ has absolute respect for the rights of individuals or groups on whether or not to associate within a democracy,” Fashakin said.
He also said that other political parties, progressive individuals and groups were also welcomed to the new party.
