CBN Plans Soccer Tourney For Banks
In a bid to improve inter-bank relations in Gusau, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) plans to organise a football competition for the city’s 16 banks.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Mueez Gafar, told Tidesports in Gusau, that the competition was part of Gusau Bankers’ Committee end of year event.
Gafar explained that all the banks in Gusau had a committee, in which they hold meetings on quarterly basis and organised dinners and award nights at the end of the year.
He further said that the committee, headed by CBN decided to introduce football competition to make the event more interesting.
The competition will hold from February 16 to March 9.
He added that the fixtures would be categorised alphabetically in which Access Bank would play Zenith Bank in match A, while match B would feature Skye Bank versus Stanbic IBTC Bank.
Match C will feature UBA versus UBN, with match D featuring GTB versus FCMB.
Sterling Bank will take on ECOBANK in match E; match F has Unity Bank versus FBN, while Fidelity will tackle Diamond Bank in match G, and in match H, Mainstreet Bank will feature against Keystone.
The CBN will play against the least winner.
The event will be rounded up with a dinner and award night, where the winners will collect their gifts.
