Burkina Faso To Appeal Red Card

Burkina Faso has lodged an appeal to have Jonathan Pitroipa’s red card rescinded ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final against Nigeria on Sunday.

In the semi-final against Ghana, a match marred by poor refereeing decisions, Pitroipa was shown a second yellow card for diving minutes from the end of extra time, although he was clearly brought down in the area for a penalty.

“The Burkina Faso Football Federation wrote an official letter of appeal to CAF,” The Stallions’ team manager Gualbert Kabore told Tidesports source. “We lodged it in the two hours after the match as stipulated by the regulations. “We think we have a good chance of winning the appeal.”
