The Bori Market Traders Association (B.M.T.A), has decried the absence of financial institutions such as banks in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, describing the situation as a setback to business activities in the area.

Chairman of the Association, Comrade Lenee Confidence, made this known during an interview with the Tide at Bori recently.

The chairman called on the Rivers State Government and other related authorities to establish banks in the area to promote business development and save the traders from going to Port Harcourt for banking service.

According to the chairman, the establishment of banks and provision of other basic infrastructure will stimulate the local economy and curb rural-urban migration.

The association also commended the effort of the Rivers State government in the urbanisation of Bori metropolis through the construction of link roads.

Comrade Lenee also pledged the commitment of the association towards assisting the local government authorities and security operatives, such as Joint Task Force, (JTF) and state security service, (S.S.S) in the maintenance of peace and security in the area.

The association also appealed to the Rivers State government to ensure that its loan scheme under the management of the Rivers State Micro Finance Agency (RIMA) reaches local entrepreneurs who are the target beneficiaries.

The association also lauded the chairman of Khana Local Government Area Hon. Greg Nwidam for the ongoing shoping in all project in Bori.
