The Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON), has vowed to involve world football governing body, FIFA, if Nigeria National League (NNL) clubs fail to pay their players’ their outstanding entitlements.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in 2010 issued an order to clubs that had yet to settle the arrears of players’ sign on fees to pay or risk sanctions.

A statement at the weekend signed by ex-Green Eagles player, Austin Popo, APFON Executive Secretary, advised clubs that had yet to comply with the CAS decision of 2010 to do so.

It said in line with the arbitration’s decision, it had yet to receive any positive response from defaulters now gearing up to play in the upcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The statement added that it had exhausted its internal mechanism to compel clubs to meet their obligations to players and coaches.

It, therefore, urged all concerned clubs to comply with the decision.
