Anambra Flood Victims To Get N400m Relief Materials
The Anambra Government is set to distribute palliatives worth N400 million to victims in 55 flood-ravaged areas in the state.
In the statement by the Secretary to the Government, Mr.Oseloka Obaze, half of the consignment would be delivered to the agriculture sector while the other half would go to the affected communities.
“The funds to be disbursed will be weighted, with 50 per cent going directly for intervention in the agriculture sector and the other 50 per cent to areas of priority, and unmet needs to be determined by each recipient community.
“The allocation of funds will be based on post-disaster needs assessment impact report.
“Based on the size of the community and impact of the flood, the amount to be disbursed to the respective communities will vary, with the most affected getting more in both cash and relief materials.
“The amounts to be disbursed will range from N9 million to N3 million per community,” it stated.
According to the statement, the state still awaits the disbursement of further funds from the Federal Government following the visit by the Presidential Flood Committee.
It explained that the state government had spent N128 million to assist the affected communities
Anambra was declared the most flood-ravaged state, and the affected local government areas include Anyamelum,. Awka North, Anambra East, Anambra West, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Idemili South and Ogbaru.
