5th NSSF: Coach Urges Holiday Camping For New Talents
Head of technical crew of Nigeria Weight Lifting Federation, J. A. Oduyebo has advocated for holiday camping for the newly discovered talents at the concluded 5th National Schools Sports Festival held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
Oduyebo said this shortly after the finals of weight lifting event held at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports venue last Friday.
He stressed that the need for State Ministries of Education and Youth, Sports Development to put efforts aimed at establishing holiday camping for the new potentials as to make better use of the opportunity on ground.
Also speaking J. A. Oduyebo, who is also weightlifting coach of Ogun State Sports Council, said that holiday periods should be well utilized to groom the young talents discovered at the festival as to bring out the best in them ahead of future engagements.
He however, noted that the NSSF should be treated with seriousness it deserves and not to be seen as a money making opportunity for few, adding that, this was necessary, if the aim of the competition is to be achieved and a better and formidable sports team built for the country in future.
It would be recalled that Cross Rivers State won seven gold, and eight silver to clinch first position in weightlifting.
Also in weightlifting, Rivers State won a total of 14 medals, four gold, two silver and eight bronze to bag second position, while Kano State won four gold and two silver to take home third position.
