Winning Nations Cup Won’t Be Easy, Says Yobo …As Eagles Warm Up Against Cape Verde

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria continue to tune up for the forthcoming African Cup of Nations in South Africa with a warm up match against Cape Verde, today, Captain of the team, Joseph Yobo has said that winning the Nations Cup in South Africa will not be easy.

Yobo, who is set to equal Nwankwo Kanu’s record of six African Cup of Nations appearance will lead the Eagles against the Surprise Packages that stopped the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon from the South African party.

The match will afford Coach Stephen Kechi and his wards the opportunity of crossing the Ts and doting the Is as they get set for real business in less than two weeks time.

Indeed, Cape Verde will present a different challenge from the one experienced at the hands of Catalonia a couple of days ago. Again, the result, though may boost confidence if good, but may not be paramount as Keshi and his lieutenants test run the squad they would take to South Africa.

However, Yobo, who has already overtaken Kanu as Nigeria’s most capped player with a record 89 appearances said, “it’s not going to be easy to win the trophy (Nations Cup). But we will give it our best shot. We urge Nigerians to keep praying for us and believe in this team.”

The Super Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with Catalonia’s eleven last week and will be hoping to round off their preparations with a good performance and result tonight against Cape Verde.
