Rivers Taekwondo Ready To Excel At Schools Sports
The Rivers State Taekwondo Association has expressed its determination to make the state proud in the forthcoming 15th National Sports Festival to be hosted in Port Harcourt this year.
The state Taekwondo coach, Oyeka Igwe made the expression during an exclusive interview with The Tidesports at Alfred Diette Spiff Sports complex, Port Harcourt.
According to him, the body is ready to represent and bring glory to the state as we have all it takes to win medals in the competition, when finally it gets underway any time from now.
He noted that the age brackets of athletes to participate in the fiesta has not been made known to the association but there are children within the age of 13-18 years on ground.
Presently, we have children from various schools whom I am training ahead of the competition as we are trying to, expose and give them experience on the sport,” he said.
He continued that as soon as the eligible age to participate in the school fiesta is revealed, the appropriate children would be picked and turned up for the competition proper.
It would be recalled that the association took part in the past school sports festival hosted by Delta State and won laurels for the state.
