Governor Chibuike Amaechi, says he is ready for public
debate with those who believe that he is not delivering the dividends of
democracy in Rivers State.

Speaking at a thanksgiving and dedication service of the
state yesterday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State governor said his detractors
have nothing to show against him.

“I am open to debate to all those people and I will show
them what I have done”, he declared”, He noted that his ascension. to power in
the state was divinely orchestrated, and therefore he has nothing to fear,
especially over those who want to pull him down.

He stressed that he
has utilised the state resources  to
better the lot of the impoverished majority of Rivers people, adding  ‘God wanted me to  embark on social projects that will impact
positively on the lives of the people”.

So far, he stated that the administration has been able to
build new model primary schools of 14 classrooms fitted with 16 toilets each
supported by free education.

Also, about 120 out of 160 health centres have been
completed and manned by doctors, aside numerous roads, farm projects and other
development projects.

He, therefore, challenged those who want to be governor to
stop fighting him but rather seek the face of God who gives power.

Amaechi emphasised that the secret of his success is by
being grateful to God, I didn’t depend on anything, I depended on God. When you
have God, all those who are fighting are no where”.

Meanwhile, Rt Hon Amaechi has hinted of plans to sponsor a
private member bill that will make every 27th January, a day of thanksgiving in
the state.

He said, we will urge the Assembly to pass into law a day of
thanksgiving to God. If it falls on Sunday, we will have a service, it if falls
on ordinary day, then it will be a work free day”.

The Rivers State Governor who harped on the importance of
thanksgiving, said it attracts more of God’s blessing and protection.

Earlier in his sermon, General Overseer of the Redeemed
Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye stated that the state is a
demonstration of God’s mercy and grace.

‘Everything we are seeing in Rivers State is because God
is  his infinite mercy has been with
man”, he declared.

The Man of God, therefore, emphasised the need for regular
thanksgiving to ensure that his blessing flow continuously.

Chairman of Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Rivers State, Apostle Zilly Aggrey while
thanking the state government for organizing the programme, also apprecared the
presence of Pastor Adeboye and Rev Uma Ukpai who prayed and dedicated the state
to God.
