Group Suspends President, Alleges Misconduct

Egbeda Welfare Association (EWA), an elite oranisation in Egbeda, Emohua Local Government Area of the Rivers State has suspended its president over allegations of gross misconduct.

EWA Suspended Hon. Sunday Kio Omereji at the weekend during the association’s general meeting in Egbeda.

Hon. Sunday K. Omereji, who is the association’s the elected president is also the Special Adviser to the Emohua Local Government Chairman, on Youths Affairs.

In an information made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt Monday, the Acting Secretary of the association, Barr. Simple I. Dioha explained that Hon. Sunday K. Omerji had violated the body’s constitution.

According to our source, Barr. Dioha listed unauthorised award of certificates of honour to friends and cronies, posted his wife’s photograph on the association’s calendar even of the wife is not a member of the body and unilaterally printed calendar without the approval of the congress.

He said the suspended president would be investigated and could be liable in damages to the association Barr. Dioha warned all to desist from dealing with Hon. Omereji as the president of EWA, and urged him to return all association’s property in his possession.

The legal practitioner noted that Hon. Odinaka Ogbuji had been appointed the acting president following the suspension of Hon. Omereji.

The acting secretary urged all members of EWA to remain calm as the body would be taken to a new height this year.

He noted the association was too big for any member to trifle with.
