FG Urges Empowerment Of Housing Sector Artisans
As part of efforts to create a pool of artisans and empower the unemployed youths, the Federal Government has urged wealthy individuals in the society to support capacity building of craft persons and artisans through skills acquisition centres in the housing sector.
The Federal government made the plea during the matriculation ceremony of new intake and the graduation of building artisans and technicians of Adeyinka technical Institute (ATI) in Lapeleke, Ogun State.
The graduating students were trained on construction, plumbing, furnishing/carpentry, welding and steel fabrication at the Institute to bridge the middle level manpower need in the construction sector.
In her speech at the ceremony, the Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values, Mrs Sarah Jubril urged more philanthropists in Nigeria to contribte to grass root development in the country, particularly in the area of skills acquisition.
Mrs Jubril who was the special guest of honour said “This is a labour to enhance indigenous development. It will help the country to develop the construction field.
She also commended the founder of the institute, Toyin Adeyinka, who is an engineer for the labour and efforts he had put forth to enhance indigenous development that will help the country to develope the construction sector.
The Proprietor of ATI and Chairman Sparklight Group, Toyin Adeyinka said that the institute aimed at impacting practical knowledge and empowering indigent people to became fifted artisans.
He said the Institute was set up as a non-fee paying technical school to train technicians, artisans and craftmen in the most practical manner possible with a view to meet up the huge shortfall of these set of professionals in our society.
