Expert Urges Installation Of 132KV Substations
For the realistion of the much needed development in our rural area, the need for the installation of 132KV substations in our local government areas has been stressed.
Speaking with The Tide in an interview in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government, Rivers State recently Mr. Dum Samuel, a retired senior technician of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) said since development was tied to availability of power, the installation of 132 KV sub stations which can guarantee a stable power supply in our rural areas in the next 10 to 20 years was the ideal thing.
Samuel added that a 132KV substation would not only normalise the voltage profile but would make power available to everyone in the nooks and crannies of our local areas.
Citing the Bori substation as an instance, he said what was on ground was an injection substation which is a 33KV/11KV that could make power available to a handful of households in the area.
Commenting further on the injection sub-station in Bori, he said “The Voltage range of the unmanned station are 33 KV and 11KV. This station receives power from the manned station
