Expert Seeks Adequate Funding Of Health Sector

The Federal Government has been urged to invest more in the health sector to check loss of revenue through foreign medical treatments.

A medical practitioner, Dr Onuoha Onyeukwu, gave the advice at a press briefing in Umuahia recently .

Onyeukwu, an indigene of Abia, based in Germany, explained that Nigerians spent more than 200 million dollars annually on medical treatments abroad.

He stressed that if government could maintain and develop its health institutions, funds used on foreign medical treatments could be rechanneled for other meaningful economic ventures.

Onyeukwu also urged government to invest in the development of nuclear technology for the advancement of its industrial sector and other technological growth.

“Nuclear technological is very necessary for the advancement of the nation’s industrial sector.

“Nations that ignore nuclear technological acquisition are countries that rely heavily on others for various consumables ’’, he said.
