The new baby, who arrived at 12.05am weighing 3.4kg, was delivered by Mrs Nkiruka Unuzuruike at Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital.

Dame  Amaechi while presenting gifts items to the baby christened her Favour and admonished parents to bring up their children with the fear of God.

She stated that the birth of baby Favour on the first day of the year was a manifestation of God’s love.

“It is very pertinent to state that the arrival of this baby is a good thing and an indicaton of a better thing to come to the family and the state.”

The governor’s wife said the development of the child is the responsibility of all and urged the society to continue to advocate a better welfare package for  Nigerian children.

Dame Amaechi also visited baby Chimeganu Okachi delivered at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital at 12.10am weighing 3.5kg.

The First Lady who presented gifts items to the baby, encouraged pregnant mothers to access opportunities available in the state government ante-natal programme to ensure the safety of both mother and child.

Year 2013 ushered in four babies in the state, three at Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH) and one at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).
