Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured
that the Super Eagles would progress in the ongoing AFCON, in spite of drawing
its first two matches.

Amaechi told the players that President Goodluck Jonathan
had promised that the team would lack nothing to ensure that they excelled at
the tournament.

As part of the strategy to boost their morale, he donated
$100,000 to the team at their camp in Nelspruit South Africa, last Friday.

“Let me also say that Alhaji Aliko Dangote has asked me to
tell the team, that he will donate a huge sum of money to the team,  if they get to the quarter-final.

“He will be here personally to support the team and cheer
you to victory,” he said.

Amaechi was in the company of the Nigerian High Commissioner
to South Africa, Mr Sonni Yusuf, Consul General, Mr Okey Emuchay and the NFF
President, Aminu Maigari.

Reacting to the governor’s gesture, Maigari commended
Amaechi for the support he had been giving to the national team over the years.

Team Captain, Joseph Yobo, assured the governor that the
team would not allow the initial setback the team had suffered to deter it from
its objective.

Guinness Nigeria Plc also made its presence felt by
promising to pay $500, 000 for every goal scored by the team.

Maigari announced the promise to the team.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Mbombela, Mrs Catherine Dlamini, has
urged the Eagles to put behind them the result of the two group matches and
ginger up for the remaining matches.

Dlamini told the team during a courtesy call last Saturday
that she came to boost the team’s spirit, ahead of their last group match
against Ethiopia on Tuesday at Rustenburg.

She said she was expecting the team back in Nelspruit for
the quarter finals.

Yobo assured the mayor that the team was sure to return to
Nelspruit for the quarter-final and thanked her for her support.
