‘Nigerians Should Live By Right Values’

Nigerians in general have been admonished to demonstrate positive values that will move the country forward.

The call was made by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the thanksgiving service for his step mother, Late Madam Comfort Wori Amaechi at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, yesterday in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Lauding the virtues of Late Madam Amaechi, the governor asserted that living by the right values promotes long life and is pleasing to God.

Amaechi stressed that his stepmother lived long because she lived a good and God-fearing life. “If you knew mama, you know how well behaved she was. “I’m sure that it is her behaviour that has made God to keep her to 85.”

Amaechi lamented that the average life expectancy had dropped drastically to between 45 and 50 years, but maintained that what mattered was one’s legacy after death.

He added, “Nobody has right to life. Only God has a right to life and partially government because the law empowers government to kill you if you kill another person but beyond that, you have no right to take anybody’s life.”

The Rivers State Chief Executive, however, appealed to the people of Ubima to live peaceful lives and allow business to flow in the area, especially now that RISONPALM operated by SIAT company had commenced operations.
