Wife Seeks Dissolution Of 13 Year-Old Marriage

A thirty-two-year-old Charity Fubara last Thursday petitioned her husband, Mr. Duemi Fubara before Obio Customary Court Rumuogba for allegedly deserting his family for 6 years without any provision for the upkeep of their children with the ages 7,9 and 12.

The petitioner is claiming N1.2bn as damages, according to her she spent on their children in respect of their school fees, health and two bedroom apartment they  dwell. None of the parties has a counsel.

Mrs Fubara lamented that she was a teacher initially and currently had no job and had been sustaining the children through the help of her friends.

She therefore wants her husband to be giving her fifty thousand Naira monthly for the children’s up keep.

But the respondent, Mr. Fubara objected saying that the wife was telling lies. He explained that he rented the apartment for them before leaving but before he could return  his wife had relocated with the children without his consent and denied him the right of seeing his children for two years.

Mr. Fubara further said he had been sending money to his wife while he was away but had to stop when his job terminated.
