V-C Warns Lecturers Against Extortion
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University
(IMSU), Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, has warned lecturers against extorting money
from students in the guise of selling handouts.
Awuzie gave
the warning in an interview with newsmen in Owerri recently.
He said that
some lecturers were in the habit of selling few pages of handouts to students
just to extort money from them.
Awuzie
frowned at the development, warning that his administration would not tolerate
such attitude.
According to
him, anybody who is caught in the act will face serious sanctions from the
university’s senate.
He said that
the free education policy of Gov. Rochas Okorocha did not encourage such
unpatriotic act.
The VC added that such act would be viewed by the school
authorities as a gross sabotage of state government’s education policy.
Awuzie said he intended to partner with the private the
sector to attract more capital projects to the institution.
