Timaya, J Martins Rule BAMFEST Night
The Carnival Village at Elekahia axis of Port Harcourt City was overcrowded on Wednesday
night as people from all walks of life, both old and young, rich or poor
stormed the arena to have a glimpse and dance with their musical idols who
performed live on stage at the Black African Music Fiesta (BAMFEST) to
celebrate this year’s CARNIRIV.
The event turned out to be a night of unlimited fun and
music jamboree, despite the human and vehicular traffic that obstructed the
free movement of the mammoth crowd. As expected, “Your Mama” Croooner
and Egberi Papa I of Bayelsa State, Timaya and The “Fine Fine Love”
exponent, J. Martins ruled the night as they dished out their hit songs that
brought them to limelight as stars to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music
clan.
The large crowd of spectators and fun seekers were
thrilled and held spell bound with the energy these musicians exhibited on
stage as they danced non stop as if the world was coming to an end that night
and every body wanted to catch fun by all means and at any cost, nobody wanted
to be left out in that frenzy of excitement.
Apart from this duo, Rivers State born gyration master,
Peter Stone Cold and Ekpeye music sensation, Muma Gee also thrilled the
fun-loving crowd as well as the King of Highlife music, King Sunny Brown and
Singerman Flash. Other upcoming stars like Raw Hit, BSA Ete were also given an opportunity to
entertain the crowd.
The BAMFEST put together by the Rivers State
Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA) achieved its aim of selling CARNIRIV to the
world as a tourist attraction of immense value, the event was indeed a
gathering of musical exponents who came together to celebrate their collective
heritage which helped to enrich the reputation of CARNIRIV with the hordes of
spectators who expressed gratitude to the state government for giving them the
opportunity of witnessing such an unprecedented music fiesta since the
inception of CARNIRIV in 1988.
