Siasia Tasks Govts, Organisations On Sports Dev

Former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia has called on governments and corporate organisations to take active part in sports promotion and development in the country.

Siasia made the call during the novelty match between Siaone Football Academy and host Real Club Deportivos (RCD), Academy Espanyol, at the main bowl of Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt over the weekend.

The match was part of activities marking the second anniversary/presentation of award to deserving indigenes of Rivers State for promotion of grassroots football in the state.

Siasia who is the proprietor of the academy said it was formed two months ago, saying that, the academy is open for interested talents.

“The academy is new, young and I am creating awareness through the friendly matches across the states,” he said.

He noted that the aim of the academy is to groom young men who would in future represent the country in international competitions and also join foreign clubs.

Meanwhile, the novelty match which was keenly contested by both clubs ended 2-1 in favour of Real Club Deportivo.
