Newly signed Sharks FC of Port Harcourt midfielder, Jonah Abutu has declared that the club
would be a contender for the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) title in the coming
season.

Abutu stated this while fielding questions from sports journalists at the weekend,
saying that the team is ready for everything that will come their way next
season.

According
to him, after the pre-season camping exercise, he has the conviction that his
team can win the league title.

“After
the pre-season camping exercise, I told myself that Sharks will strongly
challenge for the league title in the coming season” Abutu said.

He
continued that the entire team had a good time in Calabar, and that the
technical crew also did a good work by blending the old and new players.

“From
what I saw in Calabar, we have a good team that is not ready to compromise and
settle for any other position apart from the league trophy.

‘We
also have a sound coaching crew led by Augustine Eguavoen and they have been
working tirelessly to ensure that we are fully prepared for the season.” He
stated.

Abutu,
who was part of the Lobi Stars team that finished third on the NPL League table
last season and also played in the finals of the Federation Cup last season,
said the state government was committed to making sure that the club regains
its pride of place.

“I
must confess that the Rivers State government is committed to making sure that
Sharks regains its pride of place in Nigeria football,” he stated.

He used the forum to advise his teammates to exhibit
love both in and off the pitch to achieve the desired results.
