Salesgirl Docked For Alleged Theft Of Rice
A 26- year-old salesgirl, Titilayo Hamed, last Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing 330 bags of rice valued at N2.8 million.
The prosecutor, Insp. Moses Uademevbo, told the court that the bags of rice were stolen between June 1 and November 15, at Railway Compound, Iddo, Lagos.
He said that the complainant, one Mrs Hadi Asabe, travelled to Kano for a visit and gave the defendant the key to the warehouse containing the rice, for supervision.
Uademevbo said that the complainant returned on November.9 and discovered that some missing items could not be accounted for by the defendant.
He said that the alleged offences contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The defendant, who resides at No.55, Tunkarim St., Ajegunle, Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate T.O Abolarinwa granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum before adjourning the case till January 21, 2013.
