RVHA To Enact Youth- Friendly Laws
Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelema Amaechree, says the state legislature will continue to enact laws that would improve the wellbeing of the youth as future leaders.
Hon. Amachree stated this Monday, while declaring open a two-day Bonny Youth Development Summit held at Finima, Bonny Local Government Area, organised by the constituency office of the lawmaker representing Bonny in the state Assenbly.
The Speaker who was represented by Hon. Augustine Ngo, said the House had empowered the executive arm of government with necessary legislations to ensure a better future for the youth.
He commended Hon. Pepple for his good representation and the foresight in organizsing the programme that would enrich and equip the youths with knowledge to face the contemporary socio-economic situation, while advising them to benefit maximally from the initiative.
Chairman, Bonny local government council, Hon. Edward Pepple, thanked the lawmaker for practically demonstrating that youths are leaders of towmorrow by equipping them with the right knowledge.
He described the theme of the summit, Bonny Youth in Contemporary Socio-Economic Setting: Challenges and Prospects as apt and urged the youths to utilise the opportunity to produce positive changes that would transform their lives.
Earlier, the sponsor and lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the state Assembly, Hon. Aye Pepple, said the programme was packaged to empower and build capacity of the youths to become meaningful members of society.
Hon. Aye Pepple, identified unemployment, lack of recreational facilities and poverty as some of the factors affecting the youth of Bonny Kingdom, noting that the youth summit was designed to change the orientation of the people to others means of livelihood.
In a paper titled: The 21st Century Youth, A Knowledge-driven Youth, Hon. Onari Brown, said those who succeed in life look ahead and plan by acquiring necessary knowledge that would sharpen their vision to recognise opportunities.
